Stressed Out

I’ve been pretty stressed out lately.  I haven’t been on top of my working out and it’s making me feel kind of sluggish and crappy.  I guess I should go back to doing that, and control my eating, because quite frankly, I’ve been eating a lot of processed junk.

I hate to say that I’m stressed out because yesterday was Glen’s birthday and I should have written a happy post but I’m a couple minutes too late.  To recap though, I made him a simple chocolate cake from a box and melted some chocolate chips with butter and milk as frosting.  See I told you I’ve been eating crap. I put those candy letters on the cake, spelling out “Happy Birthday Glen” along with some of our inside jokes with the letters I had left.  At midnight I told him to go to the kitchen and the cake had 2 lit candles on them.  He loved the gesture, and I gave him his birthday card and present which were these Bose headphones he wanted.

We went to church later in the day, and since we’ve never been to the particular church before it was quite interesting, and not like anything I’ve seen before.  I haven’t been to mass since last Christmas and I’m not used to just going to a weekly mass.  We were deciding about getting married in the church and to be honest with you, I just don’t really feel it’s a significant part of me, and Glen feels the same way.  We’re not really religious and the only reason we would be doing it is because our families expect us to.  I’ve read some forum threads online about people in the same situation and after going through calling churches, (since we don’t belong to one) getting the run around, and realizing how much it would be, it made me really think about it a lot more.  Getting married to us is sharing our love for each other, uniting into one (figuratively speaking) and spending the rest of our lives together with our families and friends, and that is our main objective.  If no one really gets that, then they don’t really know our love for each other.

So that’s pretty much my last week of being stressed but finally resolved after tears and frustration.  Wedding planning is hard.  We just need to take it one step at a time…and organize the binder we started putting together.

Our Engagement Party

Last Saturday my parents threw Glen and I an engagement party, and we also celebrated my Dad’s birthday which was that past Thursday as well.  My dad roasted an entire pig, also known as lechon and my mom made so much food!  They prepared all morning and people were due to come by around 4pm.  So Glen and I helped out as much as possible.  For a few minutes it even rained and we had to cover the pig!  It was weird because the sky was all sunny and above the pig was a dark cloud.

The dogs enjoyed the roasting and I was hoping they would start drooling but they were just excited that there was a party about to go on.  At one point during the party there was so many people in our house that we ran out of chairs!  The Wii was on and people were playing, there were shots being taken and Logan and Lex wandering the place seeing what was going on.  Glen and I got some gifts too which we weren’t expecting at all, but it was so nice of those who gave us stuff.  It’s pretty awesome that people were congratulating us and happy for us.

Here are some of the interesting pics out of the set:

This was in our backyard.  Awesome right??

Waited for this all day!

LOL.  See Logan’s nose on the bottom?

Happy Birthday Dad!

Me and Dad

I know that there were times we didn’t see eye to eye but when it all comes down to it you’ve always been there for me. Love you Dad!

The Planning Begins!

To all those who’ve congratulated Glen and I, thank you so so much!  It means a lot to us!

So we already started planning and it’s almost near a week since the engagement happened.  We already set a date, but we have to make sure it goes with the church and the reception.  So once that is squared away, we’re going to send ‘Save the Date’ cards. Let me tell you, I have a bunch of different ideas on how to go about making these cards and it’s so much fun thinking about it.  I want to send something really neat since a lot of these will be going far distances!

I also bought a domain for the wedding which I have yet to start on because it’s been pretty hectic lately with work and just trying to squeeze in a workout and relaxing.  Relaxing is really important and so is sleep!

ALSO… we decided that we definitely are getting married in the Catholic church and have to set up that because I know that we have to meet with a priest and go through pre-cana and all that.  We already decided on a few places for the reception too which we are going to check out soon.  AND this month my mom, sister and I are going to a Bridal Show!  It’s still crazy to me that this is really happening but exciting! :)

A Year Older

So yesterday I turned 26 years old. It’s insane. The day was definitely a perfect one, even though I went to work and was busy all day. My coworkers were nice enough to celebrate and my boss and his wife got me a yummy birthday cake.

Glen and I made plans to have dinner at Seasons 52, which is a restaurant that is focused on healthiness and it definitely was great food. Before dinner though, he wanted to give me my present, but wouldn’t give it to me until we got to the beach. On the way we saw a car with an Apple logo and a cat sticker and Glen told me that he had gotten me a gift related to those two stickers. I told him that I didn’t get why we had to go to the beach so I can open up an iPod or a Hello Kitty gift but he insisted that I wait. We pulled up to Spanish River Beach and walked towards a lifeguard tower. He had brought a bag with my gifts in it and handed me a green iPod nano (so I was right! haha).

He reminded me of our first Valentine’s Day which happened to be at the beach, where we ate sushi and watched the waves as we sat in the lifeguard tower. He also reminded me of the times we would go to the beach and I would always hang on his back because I was scared on the ocean (I still am, you never know what’s in there!) and how we would just talk about the future and one day bringing our children to the beach in a wagon with all their beach toys. He told me that he couldn’t wait any longer and got on one knee and asked to marry me. At this point I was in tears and I said ‘of course!’ Honestly there was so much on my mind at that very moment everything was a blur, but I remember a lot of hugs and kisses. BTW he was only kidding about getting me something Hello Kitty but I think I have enough Hello Kitty things right now!

I asked him if he talked to my parents first and he told me he had gone to my house earlier that day (since he gets out of work before I did) and was looking for my dad, but he was out. My mom was home and he had told her and showed her the ring. Glen then called my dad and asked permission and had no objections. Glen had also told his parents and brother and even his coworkers. He hadn’t told my sister so called her and told her the news. As soon as I could I announced it across Facebook, Twitter and Plurk and got so many congratulations which I am so thankful for! I am planning to thank every single one of you who’ve congratulated us personally (as well as those who greeted me happy birthday)!

I still can’t believe all of this and although I knew this day would come I didn’t think it would actually come now. We hadn’t set a date, but we’re planning to set a date early 2010. We want to save money first so we can have the most memorable day and future possible.

I posted some pictures on Flickr, but it’s only viewable to friends and family. Here’s one picture that I’ll share here:
Ring in Box

Hands down, this is the best day I can ever remember. :)
